Physician Partners of America (PPOA) is an established AND growing integrated health organization with multiple sites in Texas and Florida. Our team of talented professionals covers the non-medical side of healthcare so our doctors can simply focus on providing the best patient care.

We are looking for an experienced Medical Collector to join our Laboratory Collections team. PPOA offers some pretty unique lab services to patients such as pharmacogenomics (try saying that ten times fast!) and toxicology. We believe in doing things differently to ensure patients are receiving the best and safest care-- our lab services ensure medications are prescribed and taken at a safe dosage.

Typical responsibilities

Collectors on our lab team are responsible for following up on claims and obtaining all the necessary documentation to determine maximum allowable for Out of Network reimbursement for patients receiving lab services in both Texas and Florida. Seasoned professionals well-versed in healthcare terminology and well-practiced in computer systems (EMR systems, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel) will be best-suited to the role.

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Out of Network benefits and reimbursements
  • Understanding of insurance payers and reimbursement methods
  • Ability to achieve daily, weekly and monthly individual and department goals



  • 5+ years of healthcare collection/billing reimbursement experience
  • Throughough knowledge of Managed Care, PPO, UB04, medical terminology, CPT4 codes, ICD9 codes, technical job knowledge, and Third Party payer requirements and reimbursement rules, medical terminology, abbreviations, and techniques
  • Excellent written and oral communication along with good analytical skills of situations
