    Credentialing Specialist (Patient Care Tech and Medical Scribe)

    ***We are looking for an experienced Credentialing Specialist to join the PPOA team.  Through a Credentialing Concierge Process, our Credentialing Specialists ensure a smooth transition for our new and existing practitioners to certifying their credentials are always up-to-date. Additional responsibilities will cover patient care tasks and assisting the physicians with scribing duties for medical notes.***

    Responsibilities

    Credentialing Duties:

    • Completes practitioners applications/reapplications
    • Responds to requests from insurance companies for information/documentation
    • Follows up with insurance companies and hospitals regarding status of practitioner’s applications
    • Notifies insurance carriers when a practitioner leaves the practice
    • Notifies insurance carriers when a new practitioner joins the practice
    • Tracks information to promote speed of processing
    • Processes change of addresses for each practitioner/practice location
    • Manages renewals of medical licenses, DEA’s, occupational licenses for all practitioners
    • Maintains the NPI and CAQH data bases
    • Works with malpractice insurer to obtain initial and practitioners and renewal coverage
    • Maintains a current electronic insurance grid identifying the credentialing status of all practitioners for contracted payers and government agencies.
    • Maintains a resource file on each practitioner.

    Patient Care Tech Duties:

    • Transport patients safely through facility
    • Assist with turning over operating rooms between cases occasionally
    • Assist in monitoring and recording in environmental and equipment log. Answer phones and data entry.
    • Uses equipment in safe and effective manner; reporting repairs to appropriate person.
    • Competent and responsible in prevention of contamination and transfer of infection.
    • Assist RNs in pre-op and PACU. Some duties may include helping patients get dressed, removing IVs, checking blood sugars, making patient follow up phone calls, taking patients to their vehicles, cleaning stretchers, etc.

    Scribe Duties:

    • Entering data into patient’s electronic record; scanning and indexing documents accurately to patient’s electronic medical records
    • Transcribing the patient’s history and physical exam

    Qualifications

    • High school graduate or GED equivalent
    • Minimum 1 year experience in credentialing
    • Strong aptitude for customer service and telephone etiquette
    • Organized, detail-oriented, and diligent work ethic
    • Proficient in Word and Excel
    • Knowledge of CAQH and PECOS/CMS applications, HIPAA, and Patient Rights
    • Notary Public, preferred not mandatory
