    Senior Accountant


    Physician Partners of America (PPOA) is a rapidly growing integrated health organization. Our current affiliates include ambulatory surgical centers, medical clinics, pharmacies and laboratories in both Texas and Florida.


    The Senior Accountant prepares accounting information to assist in producing financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the company.


    Utilizing hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, senior accountants perform complex accounting activities and financial analyses. Their day-to-day responsibilities include:

    • Analyzing complex financial reports and records
    • Supporting month-end and year-end close process
    • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
    • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
    • Provide technical support and advice to staff accountant to ensure accuracy
    • Training and mentoring staff
    • Performing variance analyses and preparing account reconciliations
    • Assisting with financial and tax audits
    • Documenting and monitoring internal controls
    • Coordinating more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments

    In some instances, senior accountants liaise between staff accountants and accounting management, serving to enforce and monitor compliance with company-wide accounting policies and procedures.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
    • Highly detail-oriented and organized
    • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong understanding and foundation of accounting principles and financial reporting
    • Strong background in Microsoft Dynamics is a plus
    • Familiarity with accounting software and program, prior experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus
    • 4-6 years of related experience
    • CPA certification preferred



    • Must demonstrate expert knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with GAAP, as well as an ability to grasp company financial policies and protocols.
    • Excellent computer skills
    • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
    • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
    • Ability to supervisor and guide lower-level accountants
    • Ability to organize and effectively work on multiple projects at one time
    • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
    • Ability to communicate in a professional manner-- able to counsel/teach customers, train co-workers, and positively contribute to marketing/public relations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, regulatory agencies, or members of the medical and business community.
