    Medical Lab Technologist

     

    Physician Partners of America (PPOA) is an established AND growing integrated healthcare company. We manage a diverse set of medical ventures, specializing in pain management and surgery centers in both Texas and Florida. Our patients also have access to a more comprehensive care model through our pharmacy and laboratory services. 

     

    We are seeking a full-time Medical Lab Technologist – Chemistry to join our growing team. As a team leader, this position requires a professional able to work with their team to achieve 2-3 day turn around on results, while adhering to all Laboratory policies and procedures. The MLT works under the supervision of the Medical Lab Director and is responsible for performing tests and reporting results to the physician for use in diagnosis, treatment and/or monitoring treatment of diseases.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Handle more complex tests for Physician owned lab as outlined in lab protocols
    • Work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
    • Multi-task and manage a variety of high complex instrumentation
    • Prioritize tasks to meet or exceed target workloads with high accuracy and attention to detail
    • Validate and report results of tests performed
    • Calibrate, standardize and maintain instruments following established procedures
    • Successfully manage and work with accreditation inspections
    • Write, edit and follow Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures that meet industry high standards

    Qualifications

    • Educational background must meet one (1) of the following specifications:
      • Ninety (90) college-level credits completed plus completed a clinical laboratory training program
      • Associate degree in clinical/medical technology from accredited institution
      • Associate degree plus completed a military clinical laboratory training program of at least 1500 hours
      • Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or other scientific discipline with either a completed clinical laboratory training program OR three (3) years of experience
    • Pass the ASCP, NCA, AAB, AMT, or AAB’s Board of Registry’s examination for Medical Technologist

    • Valid Florida License as a Medical Technologist in all areas

    • Minimum one year direct experience in a clinical laboratory setting with molecular diagnosis required. Experience required on  extraction of nucleic acids from human saliva, standard and real-time PCR, automated DNA sequencing and fragment analysis, and next generation sequencing

      Minimum of three years direct experience in a toxicology laboratory setting is required using LC/MS technology. Experience required on sample preparation using hydrolysis and data crunching
